Veterinary Urgent and Emergency Care
We understand how stressful it can be when your pet is in need of urgent care. Our team will do our best to assist with emergencies during regular business hours. However, depending on the situation, we may need to triage your pet and guide you to the most appropriate facility for continued or specialized care. Our priority is to make sure your pet receives the best and most timely treatment possible.
Just as with your family and human healthcare, if you are unable to get your pet into your primary care provider, you have options for urgent and emergency care providers.
Urgent care treats non-life threatening minor illnesses and injuries where emergency care is more for critical illnesses and injuries.
For example, urgent care issues would include:
- coughing and sneezing
- upper respiratory infections
- urinary tract issues
- vomiting, diarrhea, inappetance
- fever
- dehydration
- constipation
- skin allergies/infections and abscesses
- back pain
- limping
- ear infections
- eye issues - redness, swelling, squinting
- lethargy
- broken toenails
- minor trauma
Emergency care issues would include:
- labored breathing or struggling to breathe
- sudden loss of consciousness or collapse
- hit by car or similar traumatic injury
- broken bones or loss of limb(s)
- severe bleeding
- seizures that are occurring frequently or are not stopping
- ingestion of poison
Many urgent care and emergency facilities are experiencing overwhelming demand so we strongly recommend calling ahead for hours, availability and to be made aware of costs involved. All facilities will triage the most critical cases first. Wait times will vary.
